Dow complete acquisition of Rohm and Haas

03 April 2009

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) has completed its acquisition of Rohm and Haas, the advanced material producers. Rohm and Haas is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow.

While the details of how Dow and Rohm and Haas will work together have yet to be released, information will become available as the companies integrate. Customers of Rohm and Haas have been informed that there will be little or no change - certainly in the near future - regarding their interaction with the company.

The acquisition of Rohm and Haas by Dow has created one of the larger specialty chemicals and advanced materials companies. The two have a strong geographic reach and state that: "As one company, we will be able to better serve our customers, offering greater depth and breadth of innovative products and services in more markets around the world."

Dow also announced the establishment of the Dow Advanced Materials division as a result of the purchase, with Pierre Brondeau named president and CEO.
