Rolls-Royce selects Pall Corporation as filter supplier

The Trent XWB engine is due to enter service in 2013, and Pall deliveries have already begun in time for the engine's certification programme. The first engine run of the Trent XWB was successfully completed in June 2010. The Rolls-Royce supply contract is for the life of the engine programme.

The Trent XWB engine lubrication filtration system is based on Pall's patented Ultipleat filter technology, a laid-over pleat design that maximizes the filtration surface. The small envelope packaging results in a lightweight, high performance product. The Trent XWB utilizes Pall filters for both high pressure and low pressure lines in the engine compartment, improving fluid cleanliness levels and engine reliability.

Jim Western, president, Pall Aerospace, said: “Rolls-Royce has set new standards for efficiency, life cycle cost and environmental impact with the Trent XWB engines.”
