An event to mark the occasion has been held near the plant site, on the banks of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad. Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall, Poseidon Resources CEO Carlos Riva and San Diego County Water Authority Board Chair Thomas Wornham were present at the ceremony. The project design and construction team includes Kiewit Shea Desalination and IDE Technologies. CEO Mark Lambert of IDE Americas also attended the event.When completed, the facility will convert seawater into 50 million gallons of high-quality drinking water daily, meeting about 7% of San Diego County’s water needs.
