Stormwater filter has double flow rate
Stormwater treatment specialist BaySaver Technologies, Inc has launched the BayFilter stormwater filtration system, a multi-layered underground sand filtration system that can remove very fine sediment and nutrient pollutants from stormwater runoff at a flow rate of 30 GPM per cartridge - twice the flow rate of any other filter cartridge in the stormwater industry, the company claims.
The BayFilter can remove more than 80% TSS (d50=23.2 microns) and greater than 50% of total phosphorous including dissolved phosphorus from the stormwater when it passes through each cartridge, which has a surface area of 43 ft2.
The filter has a 50% reduction of turbidity and a hydrodynamic backwash self-cleansing component which dislodges pollutants and restores the porosity of the media.
