New contract in Japan for Veolia
Veolia Water has won a new contract in Japan for the complete operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant for the growing economic city of Chiba, near Tokyo. The plant, called Hanamigawa N° 2, has a capacity of 283,000m3/day and serves a population of around 500,000 inhabitants. This contract joins two other management contracts for wastewater treatment plants in Hiroshimaand Saitama, near Tokyo.
Treatment at the plant includes prolonged aeration, denitrification and rapid filtration, thickening and sludge dehydration and sludge incineration. The contract is worth an estimated consolidated turnover of €17,8 million and was awarded by the prefecture of Chiba through a tender. It is for a period of three years starting from April 2007. Veolia Water Japan has formed a consortium with its subsidiaries Showa Kankyo Systems KK (24.5%) and Nishihara Techno Services KK (24.5%).
