Dewatering contract for Veolia
Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies has been awarded a contract worth around £45 million for the Mersey Valley Processing Centre (MVPC), a major wastewater sludge incineration scheme at Shell Green, in Widnes, Cheshire, UK. MVPC is United Utilities' dewatering and incineration centre in North West England, which currently de-waters digested sludge and operates two streams of incineration to burn approximately half of the sludge received at the site.
The new Stage 2 Design and Build project is to replace existing plate presses and increase sludge de-watering capacity using centrifuges to 86,724 TDS maximum throughput, and to increase incineration capacity by adding a third (autothermic) stream of 45,600 TDS pa.
