Omnipure to use antimicrobials in filters

Antimicrobial specialist Agion Technologies, Inc is to partner with Omnipure, a supplier of inline carbon filtration components. Omnipure will now feature Agion’s antimicrobial technology in its line of Omnipure carbon block water filters and Aquabond technology in order to get better tasting and sediment free water. The Aquabond and carbon block filters featuring Agion technology can be used in all fluid processing markets including residential filtration, food service, commercial and industrial applications, the companies say.

By adding Agion to its filters, Omnipure can now inhibit the growth of mold, mildew and fungus in carbon filtration applications, since Agion’s antimicrobial solutions are approved for all food and water contact.

"Consumers and commercial establishments are concerned about contaminated water due to microbial growth. The addition of an antimicrobial filter element in our product line offers customers a filtration solution to control biofilm buildup thereby improving taste, purity and filter performance," said Brent Simmons, vice president of sales and marketing at Omnipure.
