Mining contract for Larox
Larox has secured its biggest ever single contract for €10 million to deliver filters to the Talvivaara mine which is being built in Sotkamo, Finland.
The contract includes several units of the company’s Pannevis Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filters with auxiliaries. Delivery will be in two phases during the years 2008 and 2009.
The Talvivaara mine deposits comprise one of the largest known sulphide nickel resources in Europe, with 266 million tonnes of ore sufficient to support an anticipated production of 24 years. The expected annual nickel output will be approximately 33,000 tonnes. As by-products of the process, the mine is also expected to produce approximately 60,000 tpa of zinc, approximately 10,000 tpa copper and approximately 1,200 tpa of cobalt.
The agreed deliveries to Talvivaara are a proof of strong investment activity in filters in mining industry, Larox suggests.
