Kimberly-Clark moves into CAFs
Kimberly-Clark Filtration Products, a supplier of filter media for HVAC systems and other applications, has developed a line of filter media for automotive cabin air filters (CAFs). The filter media reportedly has high particle capture efficiency and can trap the pollen, bacteria, mould spores, dust and exhaust particles that travel throughout a car's ventilation system and into its cabin.
The synthetic bicomponent polyolefin filter media is made with thermally bonded continuous fibres, does not shed fibres and is produced without binders, so there is no off-gassing, the company says. It uses an engineered gradient density structure for high filtration efficiency. It is moisture-resistant and does not support microbial growth.
Kimberly-Clark says that its CAF media offers high filtration efficiency, high dust-holding capacity, and durability for long life. It also provides for a low initial pressure drop. It is available in a variety of filter media grades for most automotive cabin air particulate filter applications.
