Separator complies with legislation
Many compressor users seem to ignore current environmental legislation that condensate cannot be dumped onto the ground and oil levels must be below the legal limit before it can be disposed, therefore Condensate Systems Ltd has developed Sepura.
Sepura is a separator with a compact design, polyolefin mouldings and a unique filtration system, which the company says it can produce at a fraction of the cost of similar equipment currently available.
According to Condensate Systems Ltd, the legislation surrounding this issue is not new. The Water Resources Act 1991 deals with the discharge of effluents into controlled waters and EPA 1990 prohibits the disposal of compressor condensate to the ground or into the air. Penalties range up to £20,000 and a 2-year jail term.
While local authorities determine the permitted limits for contaminants in condensate waste, the nominal national standard is 20 ppm. The company claims, a Sepura separator will ensure that properly-maintained compressor equipment easily complies, at a much lower level of around 5 ppm.
