Energy-saving chemical filter for IAQ
Purafil, Inc has developed the Purafilter® - OA (Outside Air), a combination particulate and chemical filter designed for use in high-occupancy commercial environments, such as hospitals, office buildings and airports, in which the outdoor air quality is questionable and optimal indoor air quality is a requirement. Purafil says that the filter can also be used in other facilities for general odour control from indoor or outdoor contaminant sources.
The Purafilter - OA contains the company's triple-blend makeup air media to remove gases such as nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide, ozone, and VOCs, the main contaminants found in outside air. It is reportedly the only chemical filter capable of meeting the stringent requirements of ASHRAE's 62.1 IAQ Procedure to allow for energy savings.
The filter is suitable for the removal of diesel and automobile exhaust and preventing contaminants from these sources from being introduced into the facility's HVAC system. It has design flexibility, lower pressure drop and higher removal capacities for the specific contaminants typically found in commercial facilities.
