Johns Manville launches SSP air filter media

Johns Manville Filtration has developed air filtration media incorporating 'Assurance' self-supporting pleat (SSP) technology for residential HVAC, commercial and industrial applications.

Assurance is a nonwoven composite media made of natural and synthetic fibres and can produce MERV 6 to 8 filters. Assurance media with SSP delivers low pressure drop and consistent mechanical filtration efficiency, the company says.

Johns Manville says that using SSP technology eliminates the use of expanded metal, thus alleviating the manufacturing and consumer-safety incidents associated with the disposal and handling of sharp, expanded-metal filter structures. They will also remove a manufacturing step for glue and lamination of the metal wire to the filtration media.
